Who Are We? The WQHCC is Wisconsin citizens experienced in the world of long term care. We connect people to each other with the goal of increasing their quality of life in their community. We are people with disabilities who know the challenges and triumphs of the living active quality lives we all deserve. We are children who know our aging parents deserve the best because of what they gave us. We are the service providers who commit to doing responsible and respectful work.
We believe that through developing strong supports for both sides of a care giving relationship the long term care system will provide appropriate and quality services.
How Does That Work? WQHCC is governed by a Board of Directors. The current board is appointed by Governor Jim Doyle and Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk. Board members are consumers of services, advocates, service providers and local citizens. The Board of Directors is responsible for oversight of policies and practices of the WQHCC services. Funding for WQHCC is provided by the State of Wisconsin and other funders.
Paid staff provide support to a registry of individuals interested in seeking or providing supports. Care Providers are referred to as Independent Care Providers. Individuals using services are referred to as Participants. With participation in the WQHCC Registry, both parties search a current database of employees and employment opportunities. Meetings between potential matches are coordinated by paid staff. Each person in the match experience receives support related to interviewing, references provision and follow up, and ongoing training opportunities. Participants are the employer of the independent provider. Employer Agent services are offered to WQHCC registry participants from a contracted Financial Services Agency.
Independent Care Providers are offered the opportunity to participate in the membership with SEIU Local 150. More information about this can be found at:
